Genes

MDH2

Malate dehydrogenase 2, NAD (MDH2) is a gene that encodes a protein that functions as an enzyme in the TCA cycle. The protein catalyzes the oxidation of malate oxaloacetate—a reversible reaction. The protein also plays a role in the malate-aspartate shuttle. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, frameshift deletions, and in-frame deletions are observed in cancers such as bone cancer, lung cancer, and skin cancer.
