Interferon regulatory factor 8 (IRF8) is a gene
that encodes a protein that functions as a
regulatory transcription factor regulates the
expression of genes stimulated by type I interferons (IFN-alpha and
IFN-beta). Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, nonstop extensions, and frameshift deletions are
observed in cancers such as skin cancer, stomach cancer, and upper aerodigestive tract cancer.
