Histone cluster 1, H1e (HIST1H1E) is a gene that encodes a protein that belongs to the histone H1 family. The protein binds to linker DNA between nucleosomes that form chromatin fibers. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, nonstop extensions, frameshift insertions, and in-frame deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, stomach cancer, and skin cancer.
