Histone deacetylase 1 (HDAC1) is a gene that encodes a protein that is a member of the histone deacetylase complex. The protein functions in histone deacetylation, cell proliferation and differentiation, and interacts with retinoblastoma tumor-suppressor protein. Missense mutations, nonsense mutations, silent mutations, frameshift deletions, and in-frame deletions are observed in cancers such as breast cancer, endometrial cancer, and intestinal cancer.
