Dual specificity phosphatase 9 (DUSP9) is a gene
that encodes a protein that belongs to the
dual specificity protein phosphatase family.
The protein inactivates target kinases via dephosphorylation of
phosphoserine/threonine and phosphotyrosine residues. The protein
also functions in the negative regulation of the MAP kinase
superfamily. Missense mutations, silent mutations, frameshift insertions and
deletions, and in-frame deletions are observed in cancers such as breast cancer, lung cancer,
and skin cancer.
