Cyclin E1 (CCNE1) is a gene that encodes a protein that is a member of the cyclin family. The protein complexes with and functions as a regulator of CDK2. The activity of this protein complex is required for cell cycle G1/S transition. Missense mutations, silent mutations, and frameshift deletions are observed in cancers such as intestinal cancer, lung cancer, and stomach cancer.
